i used to post the occasional review to MyAnimeList, but have since deleted them following its sale to blockchain/gen AI company Gaudiy.

they are not my proudest pieces of work, partly because of the constraints of the platform, but mostly because of their age.

i’d like to think i’ve become a better viewer, writer, and critic since, and so a long term project of mine is to pair each entry with a little snippet of meta-commentary. but in the meantime, here they are.

if you’ve managed this far, i have a little surprise for you. during my time there, i was also part of a group called MAL Rewrite, whose goal is a complete database of synopses on the platform under a unified style guide.

for the same reasons above, i’ve since ended my time there. but unfortunately, because i cannot pull my work from there (believe me, i’ve asked), they’re now being eternally molested by some AI company for training data.

all of them have gone through one or two volunteer editors and a coordinator, properly credited as they should be. see all of them here.
